I began composing when I was fifteen, and since then have composed for soloists, ensembles varying in size from duets to small orchestras, for film, dance and theater projects. I strive to explore the full range of musical emotion and texture, and to create music that is not easily categorized. I have studied with Pulitzer Prize winner Mel Powell, Pulitzer Prize nominee Walter Mays, Morton Subotnick, John Cage, Earle Brown and Morty Feldman. I have received a Meet the Composer, Composers in Residence grant (2003) and an American Composers Forum, Subito grant (2005). In 2006 I was a featured composer at Wichita State University's Contemporary Music Festival. For more details see my bio.
