Though I recieved my formal training in classical music (a BM from Wichita State University in flute performance and a MFA from California Institute of the Arts in composition) I've been making art all of my life. All through high school I took as many art classes as I could. When I attended CalArts (1982-85) I took photography and a drawing class and re-awoke the passion to create visually. Since then I've been painting, drawing, making bone mobiles and other "stuff."

I feel that it is an artist's mission to push the limits of what is acceptable and conceivable. Some do that with a strongly premeditated shock value. I choose to push the boundaries of personal disclosure. I take images from my subconscious. Most of my recent work comes directly from dream images. I do not censor. I do not analyze. I merely depict the images and stories that come to me. There are dreams ranging from bizarre to sexy and funny to profound. The dreams include the famous, fictitious and all relations in between. Most of these are painted small to draw the viewer into my private world. A few of the dreams are painted large, because the images just scream to take up space.

I love the emotions that colors evoke and I touch the canvas as if I am touching the object. I reach into my authenticity and with a naive expressionistic quality I let my art reveal itself to me. I hope that it will speak to you as well.
